So who are we?

The Giftaway team are an interesting bunch.

Editor: Vibrant, 40-something founder Simon St John is one of the authors of the Beautiful Accommodation guidebooks and has travelled just about every inch of Australia. He’s probably slept in more beds than anyone else he knows and of course, he’s a connoisseur of gourmet breakfasts – not to mention mud wraps.

Photographer: Ross Doonan has snapped many of the stunning images for Giftaway and works exclusively in architectural and interior photography for tourism. Ross is one of the principal photographers for the Beautiful Accommodation guidebooks. Ross holds a Bachelor of Education (Media and Fine Art) and a Graduate Diploma in Graphics Education.

Harry the Golden Retriever simply loves to travel. Naturally, all the pet-friendly choices have his stamp of approval.

Why did we create Giftaway?

We've received over-tight jumpers from Aunt Betty, bland corporate gifts galore and sighed when a dozen red roses lasted only a week.

At the same time, we simply love going away and discovering gorgeous places to stay. We love to eat, sleep and be pampered by generous hosts and revel in relaxing day spa experiences. Most of all we love to look back on our travels and remember how amazing each little journey was.

It occurred to us that these memories would make incredible gifts. An idea was borne.
